Truffles are tricky things to grow but we are doing our best. We are part of the Northern Regional Truffle group and belong to the NZ Truffle Association
Our first Truffle Hunt is set to take place this Sunday May 22nd. If we are successful I will post on this website and truffle may be available for purchase. Watch this space :)
This Truffiere is a mixture of Hazelnut and Oak trees planted in January 2005.
Regular truffle hunting is essential! At least every 10 days during the Winter Truffle season.
There are many varieties of Truffles. The most expensive is the Black or Perigord truffle (Tuber melanosporum), other varieties include Winter truffle (Tuber brumale),Summer truffle (Tuber aestivum var. aestivum) and Burgundy truffle (Tuber aestivum var. uncinatum). In our Truffiere we have both Black Truffle and Winter Truffle species growing. This is our very first truffle found in 2012.
